We're back after spending 23 days in Chile. There were a million
things we wanted to do and places we wanted to visit but there is
never enough time. Here is a summary of all that we did.things we wanted to do and places we wanted to visit but there is
Monday January 26th: We left home and drove 3 hours
to Miami airport. As soon as the airplane left both
girls fell asleep and woke up about 40 min prior landing.
It is an 8 hour flight so it was wonderful. Everyone around
us was amazed how well behaved my girls were.
Tuesday Jan 27th: We landed in Santiago, Chile. We
had half of my family waiting for us at the airport. We got
to rest a lot because there were so many people that were
happy to watch the girls. We ate a lot and enjoyed that
whole day with my family.
Wednesday Jan 28th: We left Santiago very early in
2 cars (the 4 of us, my parents, my older brother, his wife
and little girl) to start our journey to southern Chile. We
made it to my younger sister's house that lives about 7
1/2 hours from Santiago in the country in a town named
Arauco. We ate a lot and enjoyed my sister's hospitality.
Thursday Jan 29th: We left Arauco in the evening
and made it to Temuco.
Friday Jan 30th: We left Temuco and after a long
way on dirt roads we got to Puerto Fuy and Huilo Huilo.
We stayed in a super cool cabin. It was totally not baby
or child proof but it was very pretty, rustic and
brand new. There we were in the middle of nowhere,
with no TV or anything like it. It was so awesome. We
just heard the birds, the wind blowing and smelled the
woods. At night it was just breathtaking how many
stars we saw in the sky. It was my favorite place.
Saturday Jan 31st: We explored the area. We
went hiking in Huilo Huilo National Reserve. I also
went for a horse ride with Andy. The landscape was
just astonishing. That whole area was very cute. All the
restaurants, the information center, and more were made
out of wood. There were a lot of statues and also a
playground made out of wood. We went to see The
Magic Mountain Hotel which is just too cool. Once
again it was my favorite place. Andy also went
kayaking with my brother.
Sunday February 1st: We left Puerto Fuy and
boarded a Ferry that took us across Lake Pirehuico. We
made our way to the border with Argentina and to our
destination: San Martin de los Andes (a lot of dirt roads).
It is a beautiful town. We rented a huge cabin that they
called "The Mansion". It was just an awesome huge
house. We had so much fun in that place. There was a
Jacuzzi and a pool in the back that we shared with the
other cabins but it was almost always just us. We spent
2 days and 2 nights there. We had very high expectations
about the food down there but we ended up disappointed.
I like Chilean food better ha ha.
Tuesday Feb 3rd: We left San Martin de los Andes
and made our way back to Chile. We went to Puyehue
National Park and stayed in Aguas Calientes (a great
thermal spa) for 2 nights.
Thursday Feb 5th: We made our way back to
Santiago. Andy, Catalina and my parents made it back
the whole 11 hours the same day. My brother, his wife,
his daughter, Julienne and me made it to my sister house
to split up the trip for the younger girls. It was just fine
since Julienne got very sick on the way there.
Saturday Feb 7th: We left my Dad and Andy alone
at my parents house (for work, and school work reasons)
and went with my Mom and the girls to my older sister's
house for the day. My Mom and I went to the salon to get
our hair done.

worse during the morning. At lunch time I went to my
High school reunion for a little bit because I felt bad about
leaving Julienne like that. Luckily she showed
improvements as the day went by.

and some relatives over. That night Catalina got sick
and we hardly got any sleep.

morning. At lunch time I went out for a date with
Andy. We watched a movie and ate my favorite hot dog
"Chilean style" at a restaurant called Domino. We came
back and found my sister and nephew also got sick. That
night we had a family friend who is a pediatrician come over
to our house and check all of the children. The diagnosis
was a nasty rotavirus that lasts about 7 days.

Andy. We watched a movie and ate my favorite hot dog

and Catalina got worse this day. Luckily Julienne was
over it and it wasn't so bad on her. We ended up taking
Catalina to the emergency room but with some medicine
they controlled the vomiting and that way she didn't need
to get an IV. After a couple of hours we were sent back home.
Thursday Feb 12th: We decided to go to the beach
and enjoy the beautiful house my parents have there.
We were so sad about the girls being sick and all the
wasted time of our vacation. We were all still sick but
in a nicer atmosphere.

Friday Feb 13th: We left the beach in the evening
and went back to Santiago (it is less than a 2 hour trip).
At night we went to celebrate an early Valentine's day
with 4 of my 5 siblings and their spouses. We had so much
fun in our party of 10.
Saturday Feb 14th: With nobody sick and the sameand went back to Santiago (it is less than a 2 hour trip).

Andy and I went rafting for the first time and had a great
time.
Sunday Feb 15th: We celebrated Julienne's first
birthday with my family and some relatives at my
parents house. Yes, my baby is now 1 year old
...sniffff. We rented a inflatable bouncer for the 11
children of my family to enjoy. We had so much fun
and so much yummy food. I'm sure Julienne didn't know
what was going on and she won't remember it, but
everyone else had a blast.

Together we are 25 people + 1 baby angel in heaven.Our last 3 days there was mostly last minute shopping,
visits from friends and very 'very" sad goodbyes. We got
back to the States the past 19th.

This time I wasn't ready to come back home at all.
The girls enjoyed so much playing with their cousins
and being spoiled by everybody. I really enjoyed so
much seeing my family but it wasn't enough. I got to
eat just 90% of my list of favorite dishes. I also did just
about 90% of the things I wanted to do. I just hope and
wish to go back soon.
